Corneal stroma

IN BRIEF

The thickest layer of the cornea, between the Bowman's membrane and the Descemet's membrane.

DISCUSSION

Stroma is not often of great interest to the dry eye patient as most of our problems are on the surface (epithelium). However, there are exceptions, particularly if there are anatomical problems with the epithelium (such as ABMD) or dry eye conditions become extremely severe.
